Appointments are usually scheduled in the evening: allow 1 1/2 hours. Following treatment, patients typically are ready to sleep within 1-2 hours. A DVD presentation explains how nicotine addiction occurs and how our FDA apporoved medicines block the physical withdrawal symptoms associated with nicotine addiction. The presentation also outlines our behavior modification program to help you change your emotional smoking habits and replace them with more positive, healthier non-smoking behaviors to eliminate cigarettes for the rest of your life.
Once patients complete a medical questionnaire, our medical professionals perform an EKG, lung function test and blood pressure check. The physician reviews the results and performs a brief physical exam and interview regarding your medical history to ensure that our program is right for you.
The physician will then administer the blocking medicines to eliminate physical withdrawal symptoms. Some side effects may be experienced such as dry mouth, light-headedness and blurred vision when focusing near to far. Patients are not allowed to drive for 12 hours after treatment. Arrange for someone to drive you home after your appointment. Side effects typically subside when you wake up in the morning.
Although nicotine leaves your body in about three days, it takes up to 14 days for your body chemistry to return to a "nicotine-free" normal state and the physical addiction to be eliminated. You will receive prescription medications to be taken for two weeks following treatment in order to maintain appropriate levels of medicine to block the withdrawal symptoms while your body returns to normal.
You will be provided with a package that includes these prescription medications and a comprehensive step by step booklet on how to replace smoking behaviors with non-smoking habits to help keep nicotine out of your life forever.
The treatment cost is $429 and is payable at the time of your appointment. Included is an EKG, lung function test, blood pressure and pulse check, brief physical exam and take home medications. (Reminder: The approximate cost of smoking 1 1/2 packs per day for 2 1/2 months is $450).
We do not bill insurance for services, however, you will be provided a receipt that you can file with your health insurance company for possible reimbursement. EZ to Quit Smoking Cessation Clinic, LLC makes no claims as to whether or not your insurance company will reimburse any or all of the treatment cost. You may qualify for be a $350 "Smoking Cessation" tax credit (check with your accountant), and lower health, life and auto insurance rates (check with your insurance agent).
Typically one visit works to eliminate physical addiction in about 87% of patients. Nicotine is a tough addiction and while our program eliminates the physical addiction, nobody can predict human behavior. Should you start smoking again within a year, we will retreat you for $95, which covers the cost of the medications and the office visit.
